Why Pay
Why Pay
Why do we pay a water bill?
I understand why we pay an electric bill...but why a water bill? And why is it so expensive? I mean we need water to survive...
All water is not necessarily drinkable in its natural state. Some cities and towns have elaborate water purifying plants, and to have water come out of your tap at home requires communities to lay miles of pipe to bring it to you and those pipelines have to be maintained and repaired by twenty four hour crews as well. No one had to pay for it when we just went to the river or creek with a bucket and got our own. The infrastructure involving our water is just as complicated and expensive as electricity is. Did you know that Arizona buys most of the water for Phoenix from Colorado delivered by canals dug throughout the metropolitan area? It costs a lot to have every home in America supplied with water...clean, drinkable water...whenever it is needed so we have to pay all those people and for all that equipment.
