How Much Sugar? Hard Apple Cider?

Hi I was making two hard apple cider, about a gallon. I used about eight real apples and juiced them.

Then I added like nine cups of sugar.

Is that enough sugar for the cider?

Honestly, that is probably more than enough. I hate to say it, but if you ferment that all the way, you will have a sickly sweet, HIGHLY alcoholic apple wine, better suited to distill than drink.
