Are collectible coins worth less if glued in a chain setting?

I've got a twenty Dollar Coin, but my grandfather had gotten it from someone in a chain setting. It's estimated over $1000 and he said I could keep it or sell it.

Most gold coins are not glued but are in bezels. They were usually soldered into it back in the old days. If removed right no one may know but that usually is not the case. If a common Date Coin the value would be in the gold. If a Rare Date then a little solder does not mean as much but it still lowers the value some what. When selling it pays to see more than one Coin Dealer and keep away from pawn shops and so-called antique dealers. If glued there are thinks out there that will desolve it without damaging the coin, see a coin dealer
